Hello parents and carers,
We are projecting that our 2017 enrolment figures will be at or slightly higher than this year’s enrolment levels. These projections have enabled us to identify that we will need the same number of classes in 2017 as current [i.e. eight primary school classes, plus two Preschool groups]. We are still to finalise the way that classes will be structured, but it is looking likely that it will look something like the following:
* Preschool ≈ 2 half day groups
* Early Years [T-2] x 4 groups
* Middle Primary [3/4] x 2 groups
* Upper Primary [5/6] x 2 groups
Also part of this planning for 2017 work has been the development of an initial staffing model that is affordable, that ensures that we will have enough teachers to support our preferred class structure model, as well as addresses one of the recommendations arising from our recent School Review – the creation of an Assistant Principal position. Ms Nicole Fransen, currently an Assistant Principal at Driver Primary School, was the successful applicant from the recent selection process for this position.
‘Millner on the Move’ – our Gifted and Talented-type program – has started to gather a little momentum this term, with a Coding and Robotics group, as well as a Creative Writing group, both making very positive starts and building upon the successful Cooking group that operated throughout term three. This week, a reporter and photographer from the education section of the NT News came out to interview some of the participating students and myself – a nice opportunity for Millner to more publically share about an example of an innovative program.
Lastly, in some VERY exciting news, next week we will be able to welcome back Ms Arratta! Students and staff have missed Ms Arratta very much during her recent four weeks leave and we will all be glad to see her smile and energy!
